Dear friends,
We have a busy month ahead! We have two talks on Wednesday 11 and Saturday 14 November, and then a Weekend Course on 21-22 November! All details below – look forward to seeing you at the centre!
Two Talks: The Meaning of Buddhist Refuge and Working with Emotions
The Meaning of Buddhist Refuge
What are timeless values? This talk explains how to upgrade a modern urban lifestyle with a meaningful world view. This talk will be followed by a guided meditation.
Wednesday 11 November, 7.30pm, HK$80 (HK$50 concessions)
Working with Emotions using Buddhist Meditation
Learn about the different ways that Buddhism has to offer to work with our emotions. Creating distance, applying intelligent antidotes, and using the energy of emotions are all easier when we meditate. This talk will be followed by a guided meditation.
Saturday 14 November, 2.00pm, HK$80 (HK$50 concessions)
About the speaker: Eckart Dross became Buddhist in 1998 and founded the Diamond Way Buddhist Centre in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been instrumental in setting up other buddhist centres and retreat places throughout South America. He has been travelling and teaching Buddhism internationally since 2005, giving lectures and courses throughout South America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Buddhism in Everyday Life – Weekend Course
So, what is Buddhism? Buddha used the best description himself. During the 1,500 years the teachings existed in India, they were called Dharma, and for the last 1,000 years in Tibet, the name was Chö. Both mean “the way things are.” Understanding “the way things are” is the key to every happiness.
The course will explore some of the central teachings of Buddhism and provide practical advice on how one can use the teachings, methods and meditations in everyday life situations to bring fearlessness, joy and compassion into our everyday lives.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions and take part in guided meditations throughout the weekend course. You don’t have to come to all the sessions to attend. All are welcome!
About the speaker: We are very happy to invite to host Marcin Baranski again for these talks. Marcin has been practicing Buddhism for 20 years and has been teaching since 2001. He is the vice president of the Buddhist Association in Poland since 2007, and is a keen horse rider and traditional fencer.

If you are new to Buddhism, you can come along a bit earlier at 7.30pm where one of our regular members will give a short talk to introduce the meditation and explain a little about who we are and what we do. On Saturdays, we meet for meditation practice at 11am for those who would like to carry on with their own practice with friends.
